A surgical mask is a loose-fitting, disposable device that creates a physical barrier between the mouth and nose of the wearer and potential contaminants in the immediate environment. These are often referred to as face masks, although not all face masks are regulated as surgical masks. Face masks are differentiated based on the filter used in it and its bacteria virus filtration capacities.

A glove is a garment covering the hand. Gloves usually have separate sheaths or openings for each finger and the thumb. Nitrile and latex material gloves are most commonly used variants in healthcare practices. Use of glove limits the spread of contaminants and reduces the infections to the healthcare workers and patients. Surgical gloves come in various sizes. In addition, they are differentiated based on their powdered or non-powdered surface.
